PolarTREC informal educator Jocelyn Argueta traveled to the South Pole in 2019 with the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and Askaryan Radio Array Expedition. She created a YouTube series Tiny Ice: Bits from Antarctica to highlight the travel, science, and life at the South Pole, both in English and Spanish. In this 10-part

In this investigation, students will measure production of CO2 from surface water and consider the role of surface waters in the global carbon cycle and climate change. They will gather data on using Vernier CO2 sensors. This lesson presents a wonderful opportunity for student-designed experiments.
This is a good lesson to get students thinking about the complexity of the systems involved in providing our society with energy, the consequences of energy use and efficiency. Students are encouraged to explore the data sets on their own, ask their own questions about energy use and present their findings to each other.
This outreach piece in Nature describes the aspects of bringing various guests on field science expeditions. The PolarTREC program is a focus amongst the programs providing some best practices as the author offers advice to scientists considering the addition of guests on expeditions.
This event was a 1 hr overview of Marine Life Science in Antarctica by Annamarie Pasqualone for the CISE Fall 2011 course and other interested educators.
This PolarConnect live event is a one hour presentation by PolarTREC teacher Michael League and the research team studying Adaptations of Marine Worms in Antarctica. The team covers field logistics, what they have found, and what the next step is in the scientific process.
This PolarConnect Event was with teacher Michael League and a team of researchers in Antarctica. They are looking at adaptations of marine worms. The event focused on adaptations and biomes. Length: approximately one hour
