I hope that you enjoyed the audio journal above. Following the short little ski video there are four photographs from Camp 11,000.

Breakfast in the tent is okay here.
Believe it or not I only saw one non-human animal in two weeks of travel on the glacier. That happened to be a small bird that was flying around a camp at about 9500 feet of elevation. There were no other animals that I saw. Where I typically backpack, the northeast, I would never cook in my vestibule or eat in my tent. Too many interested critters, from bears, to mice to chipmunks and squirrels.

Self arrest practice with Seth, Karl, Tim and me
Before our continued acclimatization to 13,000 and beyond we spent part of the rest day at Camp 11,000 training and practicing self-arrest on Motorcycle Hill above the camp. The camp can be seen in the distance here.

    The right gear matters
Even though we experienced our coldest morning at Camp 11,000, when the sun was out the temperatures became very manageable. Although I am bundled up here it was very comfortable reading without hand protection. The tents are dug into the glacier and surrounding walls built for protection from the wind.

    Great views from Camp 11,000
Seth and I had a very tiny space for our tent next to Dom and Tim's large dug out area. We spent most of time during meals and other rest periods invading their condo.
