Nothing replaces the connections and relationships that are formed from in-person experiences. During three years of waiting, I was able to learn a little about particle physics, and start a relationship with researchers through virtual conversations. PolarTREC (Teachers and Researchers Exploring and Collaborating) is a program in which formal and informal educators spend 3-6 weeks participating in hands-on field research experiences in the polar regions. The goal of PolarTREC is to invigorate polar science education and understanding by bringing educators and polar researchers together.
This 1 hour event is for educators interested in learning more on natural methane cycling, terrestrial methane studies in the polar regions, and Mr. Friedman's work with microbial electrochemical technologies. This event is part of the CISE online professional development course.
