This article describes the upcoming travels of PolarTREC science teacher Nell Kemp from Kenwood Academy High School’s Academic Center. Ms. Kemp will be traveling to Toolik Field Station in Alaska to examine how arctic wolf spiders influence arctic food webs.
This PolarConnect event was held on 16 August 2010, and included Keri Rodgers and members of the ITEX research team studying tundra plant changes in response to a warming climate in the arctic. The research team worked in Barrow and Atqasuk, Alaska. This event was conducted in English and Spanish, and was the first bilingual PolarConnect event.

In this activity, students diagram the hydrologic cycle. Most of the concepts will already be familiar to middle and high school students, but this activity is a good way to prepare for making the far more challenging carbon cycle and energy NON-cycle diagrams.
