Hi Alex, My students would like to know why the scouting plane is called the Twin Otter? Are there two planes? St. Philomena Junior High

Hi St. Philomena Junior High!!I was not able to find out why it's called the Twin Otter but I did find out some interesting facts about the plane.
* It is a utility aircraft
* Manufactured by de Havilland Canada - Viking Air
* There are other planes called the Otter and Beaver - I thought that was interesting!
Other de Havilland aircraft have very interesting names as well. Here are just a few:
* Hyena
* DH.60 Moth
* DH.65 Hound
* DH.66 Hercules
* DH.82 Tiger Moth
* DH.84 Dragon
* DH.90 Dragonfly
* DH.92 Dolphin
The day we flew there were at least two Twin Otters on the airfield.
You guys are doing a fabulous job with the questions keep them coming!
Ms. Alex
