Day 2 at F6 Camp
I noticed the winds really picking up about 3am. This was not a quiet place. I was thankful to have a nice sleeping bag to use. Below, you can see what we woke up to. The ground, sky, mountains, ice on the lake, everything was white. No helicopters today. We would be staying put for another day.
We had a pretty chill day. Yes, "chill" because it was cold, but it was also a down day. Alissa made us Antarctic and Tardigrade pancakes. I went on a hike. We read about every bit of reading material in the hut, we played games, threw darts, did pull ups on the hanging bar, took a nap, and wished for good weather, and thought about all the things we were getting behind on. We had no internet devices. Kind of nice.
Later that evening, we decided to take a 2-hour hike around the lake to the Lake Fryxell Camp where three other scientists were staying. They had a curry dinner for us so we were determined to make the journey. It was well worth it. Great food. Shawn and James, my diving friends from my stay at Lake Bonney, were our hosts.
We arrived back to camp after our journey through the snow, climbed into our bags, and hoped for good flying weather for tomorrow.
