Jeff Peneston, Liverpool High School science teacher and PolarTREC 2008 alumnus was introduced as the New York State Teacher of the Year at an event in the White House Rose Garden that was televised nationally on cable TV. The Svalbard Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) is offering exciting opportunities for students to participate in polar science research projects in Svalbard, Norway. Funding provided by National Science Foundation (Arctic Natural Sciences) in collaboration with the University Center on Svalbard.
Students will learn about adaptations that allow fish to survive the frigid waters of Antarctica and will make calculations to demonstrate how they survive these conditions.
