Jeff Peneston, Liverpool High School science teacher and PolarTREC 2008 alumnus was introduced as the New York State Teacher of the Year at an event in the White House Rose Garden that was televised nationally on cable TV. The article describes the awarding of this honor by President Barack Obama at the White House.
This PolarConnect event was conducted with PolarTREC teacher Claude Larson, and members of the research team that she worked with on the Prehistoric Human Response to Climate Change 2010 project in Kamchatka, Russia.
This PolarConnect event was held on 16 August 2010, and included Keri Rodgers and members of the ITEX research team studying tundra plant changes in response to a warming climate in the arctic. The research team worked in Barrow and Atqasuk, Alaska. This event was conducted in English and Spanish, and was the first bilingual PolarConnect event.
