This one hour live event is hosted by PolarTREC teacher Mike LeBaron and his team studying sub-glacial lakes and streams. The team is at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. This event was part of the December 2012 Antarctica Day celebration. The team also speaks about the importance of the Antarctic Treaty and scientific investigations.
PolarTREC teacher Cristina Solis and her team presented their work on microbial activity in the tundra to junior docents at Cabrillio Marine Aquarium. This is a one hour presentation with Cristina and her research team.
Working in groups, students will use common materials to create layers of snow and ice representing thousands of years of stratification. Groups will exchange their ice layers and extract core samples to analyze them.
