This one hour webinar gives educators the opportunity to learn from PolarTREC educator Alex Eilers. Her projects for education and outreach on the weddell seal project with Dr. Burns provides great examples of bringing polar science to students and communities.
PolarTREC teacher Cristina Solis and her team presented their work on microbial activity in the tundra to junior docents at Cabrillio Marine Aquarium. This is a one hour presentation with Cristina and her research team.
Students will review charts of day length to determine when the sun will set at Toolik Lake.
Objective
Students will learn the following:
* The sun is the major source of energy for phenomena on the earth's surface, such as growth of plants, winds, ocean currents, and the water cycle.
* Seasons result from variations in the
