Aloha!

I have a question I saved from one of my students this past school year. She asked if the algae blooms in the Bering Sea are all the same and what 'kind' it was. I thought I needed to be accurate on this question, so made a note to save it to ask you.

Next question is about albatross, laysan and black-footed. Are you seeing any? Are there bird scientists on board and what are they recording?

I hope the ocean is nice and calm. We are experiencing record heat with large south swells. We'll keep the swells for the surfers and send the heat your way!

warmly, Maggie

Hello again :) The answer to part of your question is no, unfortunaly we havent seen and albatross so far. The "Bird People" (everybody loves calling the bird researchers that) tell me that they expect to see them a little farther north. If I can get a picture I will post it in my log. Im working on your plankton bloom question.
