In support of the International Polar Year (IPY) in 2007-2008 and the 50th anniversary of the International Geophysical Year (IGY), the National Science Foundation—Office of Polar Programs has installed an outdoor color camera at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, Antarctica.
