Hi Ms. Bergholz,

My question is: How has the research on the ozone layer changed from the last time you went to Antarctica?

I hope you had great holidays at Antarctica.

Hi Kaveri, The ozone layer has not changed much form the last time I went here. Th ozone hole closed in November - as it always does, but we are predicting that it might start to disappear in about 2065. It is important that all coutries reduce the use of CFC's. My holidyas were great here at the South Pole. Happy New Year! E. Bergholz

Hi Christina, The ozone levels at South Pole change during the season. The ozone hole forms in late August and closes during November. Both data sets : during the ozone hole and after closing of the ozone hole are very similar to last year. Scientists have predicted that we might see some changes by 2065!Elke Bergholz
