Seawater Property Changes in the Southern Ocean

Hey this is Mariah and Ellie, students of Mr Shlaefer's 7th grade science class, at GDS...Here are some questions that we have for you: How is the research going? What is the average temperature, and what type of gear do you have to wear for the cold weather?

HI Mariah and Ellie, thanks for writing. The research is going well, although we have been
delayed by a couple of strong storms. The temperature outside the boat is
around 29 F. In order to be on deck we need to use steel toe boots, hard
hats and special jackets that are warm and make you float in the water.
Some people use a floating jumpsuit as well. I will take pictures of them
and add them to the blog. Thanks,
