Hello Tom-

You and the Prib Cliff Gang "tagging" murres for the summer made me smile. What will PolarTREC teachers do next?

What do murres eat? Are they benthic feeders?

Enjoying the posts-- especially the beautiful pictures-

Hi Deanna!
That was definitely a fun day. Today we went out and observed the
feeding and we did manage to do a good job. We have birds that are
clearly identifiable by the markings that we made.
Murres are primarily fish eaters and will dive all of the way to the
bottom of the sea to catch fish from the bottom. Several of the fish
species that were brought back to the nest are benthic like the gunnel,
eel pout, sculpin and small cod.
I got an e-mail from Carol G. from SMAS, I guess that we're on for our
joint presentation at the May meeting in Leonardtown.
Great to hear from you and enjoy the rest of your summer!
