Hi Micheal, We are really enjoying reading your journals! The pictures in the fur are hilarious! I was wondering, when the dwellings were constructed in this area, was the ground cover similar in the area then as it is now? Also, I am amazed by the quality of the core that comes out with the soil core! Do you keep those cores or just record the data and dump it out? Thanks! Kristin

Dear Kristin:
The trees and ground cover were probably a lot like they are now. However, these sites were mostly on the beach then and they are deep in the woods now.
We just dump the cores when we are done recording them. We save a few spoonfuls of sand for phosphorus anaalysis. yours, Mike
