I wish that I could be at Camp Talooli. It sure looks like everyone is having fun and learning a lot about the polar regions. I love the way that you all have made the life-size drawings of the animals. It really gives you perspective and what a fun activity. I also loved the flags that different schools and camps have designed. I am definitely going to request a flag for my school.

My question would be : Which animal do you all think would be the "top dog" in Antarctica?

Have a great summer!

Last week my campers watched the movie "Eight Below" and the scene where the leopard seal is eating the dead orca and then attacks the dogs really impressed them. They were even more impressed when I explained that a scientist had been killed by a leopard seal. We just completed a 10 foot long, life sized polar bear canvas cut out and next week I will ask the campers to compare it to the leopard seal of the Antarctic. I am planning to create a model of the length of an orca, minke and humback whales using a rope with knots in it at the correct lengths.
