HI Frank!

Great journals and your sketches are wonderful!

I know you are busy, but just wondering if you have had time to check on the Sunflowers that I left behind?

Thanks and Happy Digging!

Hi Elizabeth,
Oopsy, ... I've been a neglectful adoptive sunflower parent. I'll try and get a key to get out there. Fingers are crossed, we've been quite drippy lately so maybe there's life on the roof.
Other than that, it's business as usual up here. I'll say HI to the crew.
Glad your AK adventure went well.
Cheers,
Frank

I know you are busy!
No Worries if you can't get to it.

Hi Elizabeth,
The Barrow Scene is still cruising along. Couple of notes:
1. About the sunflowers, there are still signs of life in one of the cups!! The other is on life-support. We had 10 days of clouds and rain and both of the sunflowers needed lifejackets. Hopefully, a little sunshine and warm temps will get things dried up and growing once again.
2. I am going to represent all PolarTREC teachers at Fran's (Pepe's owner) 80th birthday party and polar plunge. I'll post a picture of that one!!
3. I may need to put the plants up for adoption. If we are in the field again all week, I don't get back in time to do much of anything other than shower, eat, write, and sleep. Are there any responsible individuals you would recommend?
That's it from Barrow land. Today is summer. 70F out of the wind on the deck. Absolutely beautiful!!
Cheers,
Frank

Hi Elizabeth,
OK, I think I missed the opportunity to get the sunflowers into rehab. We went from 70F in the sun, no wind, on Sunday, to two days of snow, sleet, and 25+MPH winds. I am not venturing out onto the roof until this one blows over.
I will begin working on the autopsy procedures.
Sorry,
Frank

Wow,
Amazing temperature differences.  Life in the Tundra! If they survive at all I will be amazed.
Jose, Lauren or Renee may be able to help out. I will check with them.
Worse case scenerio if they are still alive - bring them in and put them on Jose or Paulo' s desk -- or my old one.
We can see how they will do. If they have lived this long - it may be worth it to them to get a fighting chance.
Thanks for the update!
Elizabeth

-- Wow Fran is 80!  That is so cool. It sounds like a wonderful party. I will check to see photos! Thanks for representing!

Should I wonder???
Great recent photos! The bear tracks are amazing!
Nice job on your webinar too!

Hey Elizabeth,
The sunflowers came in last week after the snow, ice, sleet, and other yucky weather.
The diagnosis is not good. I checked out how to do necropsies with Greta last Sat. so I should be able to necropsy the plants tomorrow. I will have a full report up tomorrow.
Hope all's well. The first football game of the year is tomorrow. Go Barrow WHALERS!!
Best,
Frank

Thanks Frank!!
Perhaps those sunflowers are stronger than we know!
How fun, about the football!
I would have loved to seen a game!
How did it turn out?.... or perhaps I should update myself on your journals!

Hi Elizabeth,
Wrapping things up here, been wicked busy. Will still send along sunflower pictures at some point.
Football was fun, check out the journal, great pictures and a little audio snippet.
All are well, anxious to finish up and/ or leave.
Saw a polar bear this morning, he(?) wanted to be an archaeologist.
Are you ready for school? My class is in boxes and it will be a messy start.
Have fun down there,
Frank
