Hi Melissa! Susan Steiner here, with a question about the temperature in the temporary greenhouses. Are you taking air temps, ground temps, or both? I guess you are mainly looking at warming air temps and their effect on the snow melt, but I just wondered about the ground temps as well. thanks!

Great question Susan. We are measuring air temperature now and will be starting ground temperature measurements when we get the loggers up and running (soon). We also took snow depth before the greenhouses were installed and will take another set of depth measurements.
We will also measure thaw depth in and outside the houses. We are also brainstorming improvements to the greenhouse design as the current design has took a beating by the wind the blows down the valley.

Thanks for the reply! Thaw depth sounds tricky to measure. I also didn't realize it was so windy up there currently!

Apparently your site is much less windy than ours! Sounds like Anthony was taking off the some of the snow blankets today...
