* Have you been able to touch any wild life?Nope! You have to stay pretty far away. Although one of the penguins
in Chile did try to eat my camera cord.
* How does it feel to be on a boat for so long?
It doesn't feel too crazy but there's only so many places to go on the
boat. The boat is really big though. Sometimes I try to get places on
the outer decks and I still don't know how to get there. When we aren't
busy doing science and are just going from one place to another, I try
to go outside and watch from the bow (the front) of the boat just to be
outside. We spend a lot of time inside because it's so cold outside.
One of the strangest things was being in the Drake Passage and not being
able to see land in any direction.
* Are the penguins laying eggs yet?
The penguins already laid eggs in October. The juveniles and adults
will be leaving the colony soon.
* What do you like the most about your trip? So far, would you want to
go back and visit?
My favorite thing so far has been seeing all the cool organisms living
on the bottom of the ocean. Today we found an octopus in our trawl!!!!
Also, being in the middle of icebergs is such a beautiful experience.
I definitely would love to spend more time in Chile. I'm not sure how
much more time I would want to spend in Antarctica - it's really quite
cold down here.
* How do you shower and take care of other grooming needs?
I've got a bathroom and shower in our little room. I'll post pictures
soon so you can see where I live.
* Have you made any friends?
Tons! The scientists and students on board are super friendly.
Hopefully some of them will come visit and you'll get to meet some of
them in person. :)
