Dear Heidi: I hear there is a greenhouse at McMurdo - if you have some spare time there and haven't left yet for the field, would you please invite yourself in for a tour, and take us Northerners on a tour? your fan, Michael Wing

Michael, I will ask around about the greenhouse. I do know that they operate a greenhouse in the winter months when McMurdo Station is isolated from the outside world for almost 9 months. However, during the summer we have several flights from New Zealand so we get our produce from up north. Overall, the amount of fresh food is limited, particularly in deep field camps like WAIS Divide. We consider ourselves lucky if we see fresh fruit or greens twice a month! I will investigate and get back as soon as I can.
