How Many Inches of Snow Do You See There (Gavin.C)

Michelle Brown

Hello Gavin,Great question! It has snowed a few times at McMurdo Station. McMurdo is
along the coast and receives a lot more snow than other locations
farther inland. However, this still isn't a lot of snow when compared
to other places in the world. The average annual water equivalent of
the snow that has fallen in McMurdo is only 17.6 centimeters. That means
if you took all the snow that has fallen at McMurdo in one year and
melted it, it would rise to 17.6 centimeters on a ruler--not very high.
Inland is so much drier--only 5 centimeters.
Thank you for reading the journals!
Sincerely,
Michelle
