Hey Mike,

Kieron reminded me about your adventure this summer. Looks like you're having fun. It's 100 F (or better) in town. Eat one of those polar popsicles for me (great picture, by the way). FYI: all your photos in the Photo Gallery show what looks like the correct month and day, but the year shows 2008 instead of 2009.

Did you bring your skis? That would make a great photo for your wall back in the classroom!

Have fun and keep that shooting "sharp" -- Brigette

Hi Brigette!  And Hi Kieron & Eddie!
Oh, it's hot here too.  It was almost 50*F today.  In the sun.   That's a nice warm day here. We thought about wearing shorts.
Yeah, the dates on the photos.  Um, I'd forgotten that when I post photos on the PolarTREC website that it takes the date from the file.  I did not fix the date on the digital camera I'd been given and so I posted photos and didn't realize it until they were up.  We're working on changing that, possibly.  It is a bit confusing, sorry.
As for the skis, well we're not getting any fresh snow.  And though from a distance the glaciers look nice and white on top, they're not.  They are full of rock and sediment.  Which is what we're here to study.
What we really want to do is try water skiing in our survival suits.  We think that would be a blast!  (The French researchers actually do have water skis hanging up in their building here.  Oh those crazy frenchies!)
I'm glad you checked it out.  I was just going through emails and jotting some down to send out reminders.  And you kids were on that list.
Be sure to check every couple of days, if you can.  I'll be posting some really cool stuff about some of the other research going on here.  This is an amazing place. There are people from all over the world here.  China, Korea, Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria, even India.  And of course, the US and Norway.  I'll put some links to websites that will be interesting as well.
