Hi my name is Laura Chavez and i was wondering since you guys have 24 hours of sunlight do you and your team find it hard to sleep? Does having more sunlight help you conduct your tests???

Thanks -Laura Chavez

Hi Laura,
Great question! Coming from the mid-latitudes, it personally took me a bit of time to adjust to all the light. Initially I found myself working past midnight and not feeling fatigued while working. It really is bizarre to have the sun beaming through your window at midnight! Of course, I felt like a zombie at 7AM the next day!
Once we got to the station, we began working "regular" days because of our meal schedule. In a way this forces us to attempt to sleep regular hours. The upside to all this light is that it allows us extra time to get up and back from the glacier which is 1.5 hour hike from the south end of Lake Linne. We let our Isfjord Radio hosts know that we will be returning late on glacier days, and it isn't a problem with our scheduled dinners.

Thanks for the question!
Missy
