Hi Susy!

Just reading your latest journal about Arctic safety training. How was the training? Learn anything new? Do you feel more prepared?

Enjoying the journals!

it was a good training. i am always amazed that researchers (and anyone) heading off to the hinterlands don't have any first aid training. i was the only one of the participants with any sort of advanced first aid training. the best parts were the bear training and the risk management/team dynamics stuff. the risk management stuff is something i use in planning school trips and activities and so will be useful in many areas. the concepts and ideas were great and give me lots to ponder for the summer field season.
it was also good to meet some of the other researchers and find out about their projects in alaska and greenland. mindy bell's husband was there with is research crew of students.
this week i have the dubious pleasure of giving state tests to 10th graders all day for 3 days. so much fun!
