Hi Tina.

I liked the title of your journal! I am interested in how this project is different than Stacy's prior expeditions to Antarctica. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to read anything and catch up on all that....maybe in the fall :) I hope that this orientation is working for you and we look forward to working with all of you the rest of this week!

Hi Janet,Thanks for your message. This project is different from the previous expeditions in at least two ways. For one the focus is not so much on SCINI. This time there will be more SCUBA diving and a little bit less work with SCINI though SCINI is receiving a brand new "arm" with which we hope to "grasp" organisms and bring them to the surface. The second, and more important, is that we will be exploring the changes in the underwater communities. We will have with us two researchers from the past, Paul Dayton and John Oliver, who made the original experiments and observations forty years ago. We will go back to their sites and see how the communities have changed since then.
I'm enjoying the enthusiasm and creativity from all of the PolarTREC teachers and "mother hens" and the organized, thorough information and material that you are giving and explaining to us. Thank you!
