Your last post was much different from your first! I can see that you all are settling well into camp life. The work and interests of the team members are fascinating with everyone having unique research questions, and varied  talents to contribute. It must be frustrating to hit dirty ice and ice cement , which looks like a nasty bit of business by the way, but I'm sure it makes the clean samples all the more exciting to capture.

I am envious of your 24 hours of light! I know that you had some question about being able to sleep, but your very full days should help.

You've a pack of anthropology students keeping track of you now. Your trip gives us a break from the dreaded theoryCry we meet to talk about on Fridays. People have quit whining about camping in the Mojave, so thank you for showing them what real camping is all about!

Hi Mel,
Yes I am settling in but as all the team members have said "Antarctica is harsh".  Camping in the Mojave is  luxury!
