Hi Peggy,

Caleb Schiff's father here reporting in from Evansville, Indiana.  We have enjoyed your daily journal entries and all of the photos; keep them coming.  It sounds like weather has been a problem in terms of the team's ability to get to the various lakes for the research.

With all of the hot temperatures back home you all picked a good time to be in Alaska.  Good luck on the rest of your trec and tell Caleb we all missed him during our family vacation to St. George Island, Florida.

Take care and be safe!

Hi Mike. Good to hear from you. I read your posting and showed it to Caleb and he says hi and thanks for writing! I've had a great time working with Caleb and the team. They are truly masters at many tasks and committed to their work. We were unable to get to Allison Lake, one of Caleb's lakes, because of weather-related delays and shared equipment needs. We got sediment cores of other lakes in the area, which gave the team valuable information in answering some of their research questions at least.
It was hot at Mica Lake on Monday. Here is a photo I took of Caleb in what we considered really hot conditions, 80 F! The water was a cool 64 F!
