Hello!

I was wondering what made you want to go on this fantastic, scientific adventure? And, also, what has been your favorite part of this experience thus far?

Tim Spuck

I think maybe it goes back to something my father said to me as a child. I can still hear him repeating this quote, "There is much to learn in the world, but too few wiling to do the work necessary to seek it out." Like many others, I've always enjoyed learning. I want to be able to look in the mirror each morning and say I'm going to be better than you by the end of the day, and then at night when I'm brushing my teeth I want to be able to say, "See ... I told you so."
To me ... this experience makes me a better person. It makes me more aware and better prepared to discuss polar science issues.
As far as my favorite part ... for me it might be learning something completely new to me. I've spent a lot of time working in astronomy, so getting exposed to polar research and researchers has made me a more well rounded scientist who happens to enjoy teaching. I know know a lot more about what we know and don't know about the polar regions and I feel like it is something I can discuss with more confidence.
That and this .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_waKQr_Srk&feature=g-upl&context=G291222... :-)
Thanks, Tim
