About 20 minutes before our pick-up today to begin our journey to McMurdo station, we received a phone call that we were being delayed 24 hours due to weather. All my bags were packed and I was feeling mentally ready to head down to Antarctica, but the delay is welcomed. Since leaving home I have been going non-stop, between traveling and orientations every one is pretty tired.
So, the question became what to do with the extra day in Christchurch. The first thing I did was a load of laundry. I only had worn about four days worth of clothes, but I didn't pack much for 50 degrees Fahrenheit weather. Then I set out to wander the city.
I enjoy street art and there are painting all around the city. Here are a few I saw today:
Show the Love:
Rising Tide: this is actually from a children's story book, known as the Worry Bug Project
Evil Witch: I believe this is depicting the witch from Snow White
Missing Foot?
Musical Note: I don't read music, so I don't know if this shows any specific song.
Elephant Postcard:
Movie Montage: This is my favorite painting from today. There are images from multiple movies in it and it was painted on the side of a movie theater.
