The Devils in the Details!

I love small town airports. Living in the North Country of New York State between the St. Lawrence River and the Adirondack Mts. the choices for air travel are limited to say the least. Option 1: drive 3-4 hrs. south through the snow belt called the “tug”. Option 2: Enter Canada to the north deal with customs, then 2 more hrs. Then there is option 3: One of our small town regionals. I chose option 3. The kind of airport where the ticket counter attendant also shovels the walk and makes the coffee and loads your bag! I love it!

So when the 1 flight out is delayed (apparently the pilot is required to sleep) the ticket guy now recommends the best diner in town! And all the passengers head to Phil’s. 2 hours later some fearing they have had a few too many breakfast sausages and lost their assigned seat due to weight limitations, we enter a the freshly shoveled entrance by you guessed it the ticket counter guy! Thanks to the folks at the Ogdensburg airport for making what will surely be the longest few days of travel start off on a friendly note. Oh yeah I hope the fishing at your favorite spot is as good as it was last summer!

I find it really interesting that one of the main bases for flights to and from Antarctica is based in upstate New York! More to follow...
