In general, my options for communicating from Lake Joyce are rather limited. However, tomorrow we have a helicopter stopping by, so I’m going to give them a flash drive with this short movie on it. (I almost feel like it's sort of a carrier pigeon). The good people at the Crary Lab at McMurdo Station will send the video to PolarTREC, and then PolarTREC will upload it to YouTube for me… and viola, you can see more of what it's like out here at Lake Joyce! So fun to see how you are living and what you are dealing with each day. Love the views of Taylor Glacier. Wikipedia was some interesting information about it being a cold based vs. a wet based glacier. Such plush living conditions! :-)

Dawn – This is definitely a huge adventure! I think we have a really good mix of new and returning people on our team. Our space is tight in the endurance. I feel like I run a gauntlet of legs to get from my chair to the stove. Justin's slush diving was the funniest thing ever!

Tom – It was fun to put together the video! You would LOVE Taylor Glacier – it's exceptionally photogenic! I forgot to credit Justin, who took most of the good photos of it that I included in the video. A fun thing too is that we can only see a small arm of Taylor Glacier. I'll be VERY curious to see the rest of it from the helicopter ride out now that I've spent so much time looking at this small part of it.

Lucy, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your video. It is so great to see what a fantastic camp setup you have (although space looks tight), and Justin diving for slush is hilarious! I am so glad you are there with my students and can share so much (almost) real time information! It's clear from the drilling photos that you've covered a lot of the lake. I can hardly wait to hear what you've found. And I can tell you guys are having a real adventure, in all senses of the word. I sure wish I was there with you. Stay safe!
