We are leaving Isfjord Radio tomorrow so no one went into the field today.  We spent the day packing the equipment and getting the bags ready for the trip back to Longyearbyen tomorrow by boat.  In the afternoon, we went on a field trip along the coast heading south from Isfjord radio.  Lots of birds, several interesting outcrops of rocks containing diamictons (I will describe later) and lots of great scenery.

The arctic fulmar birds, too good a picture to pass up. They are on a flight pattern over the cliffs on the point.

The thought of going to a town tomorrow with stores and an ATM machine and unlimited internet connections is quite appealing.  (It is a very small town but at least it has a store and a couple restaurants/bars).  Most people are planning to buy the food they are craving.  There hasn't been any fresh fruit or greens here so that is on the top of most people's list.  Isfjord radio orders their food twice a year so everything is in cans.  We ate very, very well and lots of it but it was slightly different foods than most of us are accustomed to eating.  We miss our favorite meals.

After dinner, Hokun, the hotel manager, gave us our arctic swim certificates.  Several people, hmm-hm, did not receive the certificates but were later convinced to take the plunge.  Pride and the promise of a sauna afterwards helped.
