On Friday Jamie Hollingsworth and Brian Charland of the Bonanza Creek Long-Term Ecological Project (BC LTEP, more on this later) brought from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks a Honda 4-wheeler Rubicon on tracks with a snowblower attached. This is a powerful little machine.

The CiPEHR Team is interested in finding an alternative to hand shoveling the snow on the warming side of the fences down to a level matching the control side. This yearly event just before melt in the spring usually takes 9-10 people 4 days or so. Could a four-wheeler on tracks with a snowblower attachment do the same thing with less effort in a shorter time?
On Friday testing this idea occurred at CiPEHR.

Jamie removes snow from next to one of the warming plots at CiPEHR. Observations will be made comparing the hand shoveled plot and the area snowblowed next to it during and after snow melt to determine whether or not snow blowing is a feasible alternative.
