Here are a few follow up items to today's webinar...

George mentioned the Mt. Erebus website. Besides a lot of information about the volcano, there is also a live webcam on the summit. The website is... http://erebus.nmt.edu

Someone asked about the Oden and the channel it is making. I took this picture yesterday 1-15-08 (local time) from the Twin OtterA highly maneuverable utility aircraft developed by de Havilland Canada. It can be flown slowly and in tight circles, and is designed for 20 passengers, short takeoffs and landings, and often used for cargo, passengers, and as a science platform.. You can see how they are widening the channel near McMurdo, which is just to the right of the wide part of the channel.

As I mentioned during the webinar Shelley and Jonathan were headed to the South Pole today. They just walked back in. They left here for the Pegasus airstrip 3.5 hours ago, rode the shuttle out, boarded the plane, they sat there for awhile then the flight was canceled and the 45 minute shuttle ride brought them back. They are scheduled to do it all again this afternoon at 5:30
