Hi Janet--
Many scientists were very interested in writing poems-- even though some were just too busy to really produce a final poem.
The submitted poems are fabulous. It would wonderful to see this project continue on other expeditions as one never knows who is a closet poet as...{read more}
Hi Amber-
{read more}Yes, the scientist in the video did scrape the edges off because they were looking for parts per billion at times--very clean conditions were needed. We also did a gravity core where the containation was not an issue.
Thanks for asking--

Hi Susan--
Any day in the Arctic is a great day, but we have had some fabulous days. I think I am spoiled with the sunny days. I can't even keep track of the number of rainbows and fog bow that I have seen. Today. the temperature was 57 degrees F.
It is 3 am and we are still working...{read more}

Hi Kyler-

Great question, Kyler!

I asked the trawl people. Here is what they said.
You are all right. There are bryozoans that look similar to this but this is an egg case. We just started trawling up the bryozoans and our taxonomist changed her assessment. This is most probably a gastropod egg case. A...{read more}
Hello Hali--
