Hi Josh,

Looks like you are enjoying the sights before you head off to the field. Will you be living in a tent, cabin, dorm or some other accommodations? What was your favorite thing in Anchorage? I'll be following your trip - happy trails. (Is the road paved?)

Hey Claude!
Welcome back to the states. You are a pioneer for having embarked on your journey first, and from what I can read and see, it looks like an expedition that'll be hard to forget. I'm writing from Prudhoe Bay, after driving the entirety of the Haul Rd Sunday (the beginning of the road is paved, with more and more segments every year). Anchorage was a hoot - the most memorable bit being the Portage glacier. It calved an iceberg a few days before our arrival, which was a particular treat.
We're in a hotel (or sorts) here in Prudhoe, then will take the sleeping bags down to Toolik where things will be a little more rustic. Still, the camp is equipped with a sauna; I don't think it will compare in remoteness or ruggedness to your trek!
Congratulations on a successful journey, and I look forward to chatting about how you plan to bring all the fun to the classroom.

Hi Josh,I hope you have lots of fun out there. A sauna??!! Beats taking your baths in a very cold river - so take advantage of it. Be safe and I will be following.
