Hello everyone, First responders are a big part of any community and this is even more so for the North Slope Borough Fire Department (aka NSBFD). We got a behind the scenes tour of fire station #2 by Fire Chief Bill Tracey Sr. The NSBFD is a combined career and volunteer department. In addition to fire suppression they also provide emergency medical services, search & rescue, air ambulance, and medevac services not just to Barrow but to all 8 communities of the North Slope. We talked with Chief Tracey about the challenges faced by the various communities. At the end of the tour we each got this great NSBFD patch. I love cool take away gifts!
