In this article, PolarTREC teacher Elizabeth Eubanks recounts her experience bringing her students - three eighth-graders and two seventh-graders to a week-long research conference in Alaska. "Having my students present at an international professional science conference is above and beyond any experience that I can offer them as a science teacher".
PolarTREC teacher Elizabeth Eubanks traveled to the Alaska Marine Science Symposium with her students. They presented a poster about their experience as her students.
Teacher Elizabeth Eubanks recently returned from a research trip to Costa Rica along with Steve Oberbauer, a professor of biological sciences at Florida International University. In 2008, they had traveled to Barrow, Alaska to study the role of global warming on Arctic ecosystems as part of a PolarTREC exition. In Dr. Oberbauer's words, "Elizabeth was so good in Alaska, I
Elizabeth Eubanks M.Ed (working with Angela Gilmour, Anne Jensen, Danielle Dickson, Leslie Pierce, and Rachel Potter) connected with PolarTREC and NOAA TAS. This lesson is inspired by the need to share the importance of the Bowhead Whale in relation to the culture of arctic people. It is a portion of an entire collaborative unit to be utilized between
This one hour webinar is conducted by PolarTREC alumni Missy Holzer. She highlighted her work with the High Arctic Change expedition 2008 and bringing inquiry-based science into her classroom. This webinar is part of the C-ISE online professional development course.
This website is produced by the geological mapping programme GEOKART of the Norwegian Polar Institute. We want to provide information for geologists working or interested in the Norwegian polar areas, with emphasis on Svalbard (Spitsbergen).
We want to inform about: NPI's geological programmes, activities, services and products, logistic requirements and working conditions in polar areas, ongoing activities, and basic scientific
This geologic time calculator allows the user to manipulate the relativism of time to other markers. It builds from the classic analogy for illustrating the relative durations of parts of the geologic time scale is the yardstick.
