This inquiry-based activity can be done using the slides of the attached PowerPoint presentation, or using a smart board. The slides describe the phases of the Inquiry Based Learning, step by step. The reference model is the "BSCS 5E model" (Bybee W. et al., 2006).
Objectives
Students will learn about global warming through inquiry-based learning and experimentation
The Antarctic Research Group at Boston University is lead by Dr. David Marchant. Graduate students include Adam Lewis, Doug Kowalewski, and Kate Swanger.
Marchant's ongoing NSF funded research projects focus on:
1. Age, origin, and climatic significance of buried ice in the Dry Valleys region, southern Victoria Land
2. Response of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet to middle Miocene global

Today an international team of scientists funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and supported by its Office of Polar Programs and the U.S. Antarctic Program is researching how penguins are coping with a rapidly changing climate, as well as to equally profound changes caused by commercial fishing.
Researchers have come to Ross Island to study penguin

The Woods Hole Research Center conducts research, identifies policies, and supports educational activities that advance the well-being of humans and of the environment. Our mission is to understand the causes and consequences of environmental change as a basis for policy solutions for a better world. We specialize in ecological research on land use in the normally forested
The Earth Exploration Toolbook is a collection of computer-based Earth science activities. Each activity, or chapter, introduces one or more data sets and an analysis tool that enables users to explore some aspect of the Earth system.
WHAT IS MY NASA DATA?
Mentoring and inquiry using NASA Data for Atmospheric and earth science for Teachers and Amateurs (MY NASA DATA) is a project to enable K-12 teachers and students, as well as citizen scientists, to explore the large volumes of data that NASA collects about the Earth from space. Students use scientific inquiry and math skills as
The SIPEX expedition was aboard Australia's icebreaking research vessel Aurora Australis in the region of East Antarctica between 110°E and 130°E. Each day while the ship was in the sea ice zone, scientists undertook experiments on the ice floes to learn about the thickness, snow cover and other properties of the sea ice, how it is affected by ocean currents
