Richard D. Hale joined the department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Kansas in 1998. His expertise is in the areas of engineering mechanics, experimental mechanics, and composite materials and structures for aerospace applications. After receiving bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering Dr. Hale received his Ph.D. in engineering mechanics from Iowa State University. Dr. Hale was a Senior Project Engineer for the Boeing Company where he worked on aircraft design. He is currently the Air Vehicles lead for CReSIS. He holds four patents and has conducted extensive research in composite materials and uninhabited air vehicles.
