Hi my name is Dominica and I am from Pope John Paul II High School in Boca Raton, Florida. I am currently taking a Marine Science course and I was introduced to this website by my teacher. I wanted to ask you how many extinct animal bones you saw throughout your expedition and how many years old were they. Also, how cold is it there and what does everything look like? I don't plan on going there anytime soon but I find what you didi very interesting. Thank you so much for your time! I wish you good luck on any other expeditions that you go on in the future.

Hi Dominica, Thanks for the questions. To clarify, our expedition to Antarctica is scheduled for departure in Mid- January 2014. The photos I believe you viewed were from the permafrost tunnel north of Fairbanks Alaska. This is an amazing facility overseen by the US Army Corp of Engineering. There are a few specialists in the area, specifically from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The tunnel is littered with hundreds of preserved fossils of mammals and plants from tens of thousands of years old. These include Steppe bison, mammoths and willow tree remains. As the soil was frozen for so long it preserved these remains. If you are ever in Fairbanks you must visit the University of Fairbanks Natural History museum. it is amazing. Hope this helps. Looking forward to more questions was we deploy. Merry Christmas! Glenn Clark
