Michelle,

I am enjoying your journals.

Can’t believe my time if almost here! Finally!

I’m in packing mode and wanted to hear from the expert – what do I really need to pack. (I.e. – how many gloves, socks, hats, pants, tops etc.)

And more importantly – what should I leave at home.

One more thing… any suggestions on a coat. Yours looks warm – what kind is it?

Any other tips are much appreciated!!!

All the best this holiday season!! Safe travels home!

Alex

Hi Alex!
I know I replied to you via email, but I thought I'd post a response here as well!
In regards to coats, I brought along a down jacket and shell (waterproof/windproof), and I've worn that more than the big red.
Other things that were helpful to pack:
- own long underwear (provided by CDC, but I prefer my own)
- sock liners
- mid-layers (provided by CDC though)
- hiking boots that can get wet/dirty
- in-door shoes or slippers
- tennis shoes
- bathing suit (for sauna / potential adventures in New Zealand)
- big towel
- shower sandals
- I brought my own hat (CDC provides many kinds though)
- nail clippers
- gifts for the research team (nice chocolate, etc.)
- two cameras and camera cases
- a backup hard drive (I didn't bring one but wish I had)
- polarized sunglasses (I preferred a prescription version instead of goggles that CDC provides)
- comfortable in-door clothes (I wear jeans and a sweater just about every day!)
- moisturizer and chapstick!
- Good books to read (especially for the long plane ride)
I'll let you know if I remember anything else and I'm excited for your journey!
Sincerely,
Michelle
