Mark,

I loved (and was slightly freaked out) about your journal about the mosquitoes! Here in Barrow, Alaska, I was told that if the wind ever dies down, the mosquitoes will be out in full force, so I totally feel for you and your team when I saw those photos!

I didn't notice anyone wearing a head net in the photos. Are you wearing a head net? Are people applying DEET or are people just putting up with the mosquitoes?

Hi Mark,Great pics of the skeeters! I can hear them like it was just yesterday I was out there! I'm really enjoying your journals and looking forward to more science experiments we can do with our students!

Definitely have a head net; But if you can, also have CPS give you an "original bug shirt" or get your own on line if they won't and you know you will be outside for long stretches! They gave me one and it is a lifesaver. We are in the bugs 12 hours a day every day and the sound is a crazy part of the ambient environment. Today, the horse flies came out as well. I have enjoyed watching how the environment changes just over the past two weeks as winter left us and suddenly it's summer!.Enjoy Barrow!
