Hi Ms. Herrmann! I'm glad to hear you got out in the field to see some ornithology in action. Somehow I hadn't realized just how big the giant petrel chicks are! Maggie Amsler sounds like someone who would be amazing to meet. It's also great to hear that your “Polar Connect” event went well--I wish I could have seen it. I've been in the ocean too, but I'm sure it was quite different here in Florida than in Palmer. It sounds like a once in a life time experience, for sure! To me it seems like you've been in Antarctica for ages, but maybe it's gone very quickly for you. I hope your last few days are going well! Mila

Hello there,I hope our are enjoying your time in Florida. Which part are you visiting?
My time at Palmer Station has gone by so quickly, but it feels like a long time since I've been at home. I didn't realize the giant petrel chicks would be so large either. They were amazing to see. I still need to write a whole journal about that day, but want to talk with the scientists a bit more before I do- I should have plenty of time to do that on the ship. Yes, Maggie is really neat. Everyone here has been so generous and gracious- I have been very lucky with this opportunity.
I discovered that almost 800 people tuned in for the Polar Connect event. I had no idea that many people would follow along. Please say hi to your folks and enjoy some sunshine!
