Hello Frankie!
Packing...hmm; perhaps I ought to get started?!
In terms of clothing, much of the "extreme cold weather" (or ECW) gear is distributed to us in New Zealand. I need to pack extra long underwear - I like "expedition weight" - it's warm! Also socks, fleece - lots of fleece! I will pack a couple pairs of sunglasses and some sunscreen! Other items too!
The biggest concern I have is making sure I take all the proper SCUBA gear that I need to bring with me; some is already in Antarctica. I must pack my dry suit and all the proper hoses to connect with the regulators that are in Antarctica. I need my fins, mask, undergarments for the suit, etc.
It will take me a couple days to make sure I have everything I need; I have started making a list so that I don't forget anything! The part that is a "pain" is trying to determine what can fit in the limited packing space we are allowed. I can't take everything I would like to take, so I have to pick and choose!
I leave on October 13th! That's only a few weeks away; I am very excited to get back to Antarctica. It is a wonderful place.
I won't be packing any food. When we get to Antarctica, there is a food supply storage area. The team will go "grocery shopping" there!
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
RobinĀ
