Was there any ridable waves in the Kuril while u were there?

Well, not being a surfer myself I can only make a guess.....Many of the beaches are very small and very rocky, so I wouldn't imagine them being very good for surfing.  The break is very short.
The only beach that seemed like it would be "good" would be the one at Ainu Bay on Matua.  There were pretty good-sized waves there, but again, the break was pretty short-lived, so I don't know for sure.

I have pictures of waves at simushir island and I'm sure there are many other surfable waves in the region. The science of looking for ridable waves is like any other science, it takes patience, fortitude, and a smidgin of good fotune. - keep looking.
