How has this trip compared to your last trip to the kurils? (in terms of learning more about what you're sdtudying) thanks! Claire

ClaireI learned a lot of things this time. 
I learned more about how archaeologists do a complete excavation, not just the "quickies" that we did last year.
I learned more about what the different types of lithic tools look like and how to tell if a lithic flake has been retouched or used when I worked with Dr. Fitzhugh cleaning and photographing the lithic tool samples.
I also learned a LOT more about tsunamis and got to see what kind of damage that they can do!  It is astonishing to think of a tsunami wave nearly 60 feet high and traveling almost half a mile inland!
