Dear Claire, Anna, Luke, and Mr. Botella,

Congratulations on your upcoming expedition to Antarctica!

Thank you for your terrific presentation to our Board of Education this evening. As you prepare for your journey, what are you wondering? What are you most excited about? … curious about? … or nervous about? What do you think will be highlights of this incredible experience?

I wish you safe travels and I look forward to hearing about your adventures!

Andrew Briddell Director of Instruction, Monona Grove School District

Juan Botella

Hi Andrew, thanks a lot for your support on this endeavor. It is a very rich
time in terms of emotions as I see the deployment date approach. I am
very excited to see our students work with the Chilean students,
teachers and researchers during our journey. I am very excited to go
back to Antarctica; when I left three years ago the coast of McMurdo
Station, I thought it was a definite good by. I am glad I was wrong. I
am nervous about packing. What to bring, what not to bring... We need
to bring formal outfits for an event at the American Embassy in
Santiago, where temperatures will reach high 80's, and pack for what
could be rainy and windy cold conditions. I know I am bringing my
cameras and audio recorders, the rest I am less sure.
Thanks again!
Juan.
