Hi Casey,

I just read your last couple of entries on food and the frozen parts. I can completely relate to the importance of keeping the morale high of the scientists and other staff during times when things just don't seem to be going as planned.

I'm sure that you will find ways to keep yourself entertained. What other types of projects are happening at the South Pole Station?

Keep Warm!

Hi Cristina!  I hope you had fun with the polar bears!  your pictures and journals were great.
I am hoping to check out one of the other projects down here today, run by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), called ARO (Atmospheric Research Observatory).  Other projects that I will look into include the 10-meter South Pole Telescope and BICEP (Background Imaging of Cosmic Extragalactic Polarization, whew!) which both study cosmic microwave background in different ways.  Everything goes by acronyms down here!
There are many other experiments going on here as well - we'll see which ones I can explore!  I'll post later on some of these other projects.  I also plan to write a journal on what people do for fun down here when they're not working - all kinds of opportunities for recreation!
